The Daze side table by Truly Truly
Founded by Australian designers Joel and Kate Booy in 2013, Truly Truly is a design studio based in the Netherlands. Between them they have experience in graphic design, teaching typography and studying what they call “the design of the living space through the senses” at the renowned Design Academy in Eindhoven.
With a focus on furniture, lighting, textiles and spaces, the pair relish creative challenges and often experiment with materials and forms to create unusual products that play with colour. The studio’s notable collaborations include a deconstructed sofa designed especially for IKEA as well as monumental columns created for an exhibition by design group Dutch Intervals during Salone del Mobile 2016. The ‘Daze’ side table, pictured here, is inspired by the colour gradients of light streaming through a crack and the design studio created the table to see how the act of colouring is affected by the shape of an object. Daze comes in a vibrant burnt orange and red fade as well as a moss green and yellow tint blend. These misty gradients create a bold effect that shifts between concentrations of colour and warm dissolving shades. The effect is supported by the architectural volumes and crevasses built in to the tables that let shades and shadows float through in a multi-dimensional presentation of colour. The table is deceptively simple in form but impressive in finish.
The Daze table is made from bent and welded steel with a polyester coating and is available in two sizes, low and high.
